South Africa is not ready to host the 2010 World Cup, just over three months before the tournament kicks off, according to football's international governing body. Jerome Valke, Fifa's secretary general, told a news conference on Tuesday that the main venue in Johannesburg, Soccer City, was yet to be completed, and that 700,000 tickets were still unsold. "If the question is: 'Could we host the World Cup tomorrow morning?' the answer is no," Mr Valke said. "I can make a list of things that aren't ready for the World Cup." |

It is in replacement of Thomas Nkono who held the post until now.
Heads continue to roll following the dismal performance of the Indomitable Lions during the last edition of the African cup of Nations tournament in Angola. After the outing of seven players from the squad including emblematic figures like Song and Geremi; it is the turn of Thomas Nkono to loose his position as trainer of goalkeepers. Thomas Nkono who was at one time promoted to the rank of interim coach of the national team, seems to be paying the price for the poor performance of his protégé, Idriss Carlos Kameni, who conceded eight goals in four encounters during the Angolan expedition.

Less than two weeks to the start of the Mount Cameroon Race of Hope, controversy is reportedly very high following a decision described by many as single-handed, taken by the National President of the Cameroon Athletic Federation, Jacques Sebastian Mbous.
The decision which has provoked much bitterness reduces the distance to be covered from 42 km to 33 km and introduces other modalities which critics have styled impracticable.
Gathering from a talk show panelists and callers expressed their total dissatisfaction with the decision to change the distance of the race.

Egyptian Football Federation members have given their coach the green light to take charge of the Super Eagles on a temporary basis.
Hassan Shehata can coach Nigeria at the World Cup if he wishes, according to the Egyptian Football Association (EFA). The Egyptian national coach, one of several names linked to the vacant position, last week ruled himself out of the running, citing the unwillingness of his employers to release him on a short-term basis.
The 60-year-old was on a preferred list of candidates drawn up by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) following the dismissal of Shaibu Amodu.

Paul Le Guen was appointed to the position of coach of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in July 2009 after a few weeks as an interim at the helm of the national team by legendary goalkeeper Thomas Nkono. Le Guen would later keep Nkono on as the goalkeeper's trainer and his senior assistant.
